The core tenet of the Inspirtu faith was the belief that the souls of the dead walked alongside those of the living. After many years of wandering, during a dangerous sandstorm, the Inspirtu discovered the ruins of what they believed was a solitary structure uncovered by the storm. Seeking shelter, the Inspirtu discovered it was but one building of many. When the storm moved on the Inspirtu Council, believing they had been guided by their deceased ancestry, came to a consensus that they would make a home at the place that had saved them from the sands. They called it the Santwarju, or Sanctuary.
The Sanctuary was thought to be the gateway to Kyöpelinvuori, a name given to an fabled underground city by the Inspirtu. Over the following decades, the Inspirtu uncovered various artefacts that they bartered and sold whenever they could to survive, This interaction with mainstream Araxian society was carefully orchestrated to ensure the fledgling Inspirtu people would not be unnecessarily exposed to the society their ancestors had fled. Excursions to Al Raqis were rare but necessary to create their self sustaining society. They encountered the Desert Born and traded with nearby seeqs, attempting to duplicate their survival skills and technology in a crude and rudimentary fashion.
The Sanctuary is open to all as a refuge. It is a place for the disaffected, the maligned and all who find themselves outcast. However, the Sanctuary is hard to find and secluded in a desert canyon. Those that find the Sanctuary can consider themselves fortunate that they have been chosen by God to be reborn in the ways of the Inspirtu/Jadeist philosophy. Few find the Sanctuary of their own accord and those that do rarely leave.
